Heavy Duty Stairlifts
Some people may require a sturdier stairlift or heavy duty stairlift.
Individuals with mobility issues who are overweight may face additional challenges in their home, particularly when it comes to navigating stairs. Stairlifts offer an ideal solution, allowing them to move between floors without straining their muscles, joints, or heart. However, a significant concern arises as stairlifts have weight restrictions.
Until recently, heavy-duty stairlifts in the UK had a maximum weight capacity of 25 stone (160kg). For instance, Stannah’s Saxon and Starla models for straight staircases have this limit. Similarly, Acorn’s 130 model for straight stairs can support up to 25 stone, while its 180 model for curved staircases has a limit of 19 stone (120kg).
Fortunately, Platinum Stairlifts now offers The Ultimate model that can accommodate up to 25 stone for both straight and curved staircases. Additionally, Companion, a division of the Handicare Group, previously provided the 1000 XL model, which also has a 25 stone weight limit.
